Today marks the two year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, which killed more than 316,000 people and left 1.5 million people without homes. It is so hard for us to imagining waking up one day to find everything we own destroyed, everything we know turned upside down, our loved ones taken away in the blink of an eye. But this was the reality for thousands of Haitian people, who had little time to grieve their losses and bravely started rebuilding their world.
In December Maria Bello invited my mom and I out to Haiti to meet the amazing people who have made so much progress since the earthquake. I was amazed and inspired by how upbeat and strong the women I met were, despite everything they had been through. They took it upon themselves to start re-growing their economy and helping others do the same, and I have so much admiration for these women.
