I am incredibly proud of my Armenian roots and that is why it is so important for me to spread the word about the Armenian Genocide. It is so important for me to honor the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who were killed in the 1915 Armenian Genocide. My thoughts and prayers will always be with all my fellow Armenians. I will never forget the fear and pain this has caused my ancestors and those close to me and will continue to do everything in my power to educate those around me so that there is a truthful and just resolution of the Armenian Genocide. I love my heritage so much, this will be a part of me forever. Xo

Dolls, please fight injustice and Genocide denial and support the ANCA Telethon! The ANCA are working towards a truthful and just resolution of the Armenian Genocide, which Turkey still denies actually occurred.

The ANCA Telethon 2012 will be streaming live online today from 2:00-8:00 PM PDT and 5:00PM-11PM EDT

This is such an important cause and one that is close to my heart.

My family and I are incredibly proud of our heritage. My dad taught me a lot about Armenian culture, and I have a strong connection with my roots.  Every year, I honor the memory of the martyrs who were killed during the 1915 Armenian Genocide. Even though so many countries around the world recognize the Genocide, the government of Turkey still denies it.

It happened before Rwanda, Darfur, and the Holocaust. Maybe none of those other genocides would have happened if more nations had condemned the Armenian Genocide, when 1.5 million Armenians were massacred.

Some people might wonder why I’m talking about history on my blog. And that’s what I’m trying to show…it’s not history. Until this crime is resolved truthfully and fairly, the Armenian people will live with the pain of what happened to their families and the fear of what might happen again to their homeland. So out of respect for all those innocent people that died, I’m putting a spotlight on it today.

Today, thousands of Armenians will come together in Los Angeles to protest against the denial of the genocide and urge the United States government to recognize the Armenian Genocide. I hope that I can bring some attention to this today.

And, this year, April 24 falls on Easter Sunday. Armenians are the first Christian Nation in the world, and almost everyone will be in church to celebrate Easter. Even on this really happy day, we’re going to be remembering the Genocide.

There’s going to be a National Day of Prayer in churches across America to celebrate Easter and commemorate the Genocide.

My thoughts and prayers are with all my fellow Armenians on this really important day. I stand proud with you always.

I just found out today that I am on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine in Turkey this month. Cosmopolitan Magazine has a number of international editions all around the world that run in various territories, and when I did this shoot for the international covers I had no idea that Turkey was planning to run my story on their cover THIS month, considering Genocide Remembrance Day is this month. My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I’ve been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family’s background and culture so as an Armenian-American woman it is a huge honor for me to be on the first ever Armenian Cosmopolitan cover (pic above.)

I have an amazing relationship with Cosmopolitan Magazine. World-over, Cosmo is known as a fun and inspiring magazine for women of all races, shapes, sizes, regardless of their political beliefs and I really hope that if I can bring awareness to the issue, then this in an accomplishment.

Hi dolls! I wanted to bring something to your attention that I think is a really important issue.

As some of you may be aware, although many of you may not be, Turkey still denies that the Armenian Genocide took place, and the U.S. government has remained silent about it due to pressure from the Turkish government.

The Armenian Genocide was a series of terrible massacres committed by Turkey between 1915 and 1923 that killed members of my extended family and over two million other Armenians and Christians in the Ottoman Empire.

It’s time for America to speak openly and honestly about this horrible crime against humanity, and the only way this will happen is if WE speak up first.

To get your voice heard, call Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, at (202) 225-0100 and ask her to pass the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H.Res.252.  This human rights legislation will help make sure that the lessons of this genocide are used to help prevent future crimes against humanity. Kourtney, Khloe and I will be celebrating the launch of our jewelry collection for Virgins Saints and Angels at Nordstrom at Fashion Island in Newport tomorrow! We all agreed that with April 24 being the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we wanted to do something special on that day to honor those that died… and we hope that by celebrating this beautiful collection that was inspired by our Armenian heritage, we are doing just that.

This collection is dedicated to everyone who lost their lives.

On April 24 Khloe and I are heading to Vegas with Kourt to celebrate her
birthday at Wet Republic. I know this date is also the anniversary of
the Armenian Genocide. I don’t want anyone to think we are being
disrespectful at all, because our Armenian heritage is very important to
us and our father always taught us to respect our history and embrace
our culture. On the anniversary we will be celebrating life, family and
the future and honoring our past and all of those that died during that
terrible time in history.
