Kim Kardashian Psoriasis Walk to Cure 2012 Charity

This year I was diagnosed with psoriasis, a hereditary, genetic, autoimmune disease that effects over 125 million people around the world and currently has no cure.

On March 4 2012 it will be the sixth annual Walk To Cure Psoriasis and I hope you guys will join me in helping raise funds and awareness for the event. Over the last five years they have raised almost 1.5 million dollars to help research for a cure and there are now 22 walks across the country! They also started the first ever DNA BioBank, which is used by researchers across the country and the money from the walk goes directly to this.

If you suffer from psoriasis, know someone else who does, or just want to help find a cure for the millions of people whose lives are affected by the disease, you can text NPF to “50555″ to make a $10 mobile donation. You can also find out more about the walk here.

  2. hi Kim!
i will make sure to help raise funds for this important cause. God bless you!

  3. good to see charity work.. but to be honest everyone in my family has psoriasis and its really not a big deal at all. if everyone actually wants to do some good in the world, there are WAY more important things out there.

sorry to be a bit of a downer, it is however really good to see that lots of people want positive change in the world

    • just because its not important to you doesn’t mean its not important so someone else.

    • ecitl9- I am glad that your psoriasis is not a big deal. Please know that for many it IS a big deal. Psoriasis manifests itself differently in different people. Some with the disease have very few plaques while others can be covered head to toe. Those with psoriasis are at increased risk for diabetes, heart disease and depression. And, about 30% of those with psoriasis develop psoriatic arthritis which impacts joints and mobility. Psoriasis takes a great physical and emotional toll on those with the disease. For more information on psoriasis please visit http://www.psoriasis.org

    • Givin that it’s an autoimmune disease, it is a much bigger deal that most people know – whether you have it or not. Since it causes cells to reproduce faster than normal (causing the unsightly and uncomfortable patches), it increases a person’s chance of having cancer. THAT is a big deal. Also, if you have one autoimmune disease (especially one that is hereditary), it makes it more likely for you to develop other autoimmune diseases that aren’t. And in case you were wondering, yes, I do have psoriasis – diagnosed at age 11. At this moment, I am waiting for results on whether I may have lupus or APS as well (APS being one that is not hereditary). FInding a cure for psoriasis IS an important cause.

      • there is a med out there called embrel it works wonders but is very harnful you need lots of test to make sure your body can handle it but if you can it has taken mine away i was 80 % covered and now cleared up a wonder drug if you ask me

  4. This is awesome!!! I never knew there was such thing!!!

  5. That’s a good thing to do!
WHY do some of you even entertain people who you don’t even like? Do you really think a “real” celeb would?

  6. Kim, what a great cause to support. I will be making a donation to this great cause to help find a cure. Love you!!!! xoxo

  7. Thank you Kim,
This is amazing. I have had Psoriasis for about 8 years now and let me tell you it is not a fun thing to have. It makes you have body aches and it burns and dries your skin out like crazy. I am so glad you have done this for people like me. I really hope that someday there will be a cure. See unlike most people, mine is a really big deal. I have it on my face, my arms, my legs, and my ears. When I first got it I thought that it was going to be the end of the world, but now I have found a man that loves me even though I have it. He says that he doesn’t even see it. Him and my son are so sweet and they have helped me through it. My 8 year old son has it also but it is not near as bad as mine. So Kim I thank you so so much for doing this. It is for a Wonderful cause and God will bless you you for trying to help a lot of people.

  8. As someone who has psoriasis, i know how it feels. I use to feel really uncomfortable because my skin looked really different from others and i was ashamed! I really didn’t know how to deal with this, so i hid behind excessive amounts of clothing. At some points i felt like everyone knew what i had because i would always wear long sleeved shirts. Im really glad they have a research program to help find a cure.. Kim i love you, and on a serious note you are my hero because u have shown me how to deal with psoriasis since you are in the public eye.. Thank you…God bless you!!!!

  9. WOW! Let’s get one thing straight!

We don;t agree just to “agree”……

  10. Heyy Kim Great Cause.

I know a way to get rid of psoriasis not CURE but get rid of Essiac Tea. Read the reviews & give it a shot. Its also for cancer patients!!!
