Since Ms. Kardashian has chosen to make her living as a reality TV star, and since she certainly appears to have so many very young fans, it would be nice to see her use this opportunity, her failed marriage, as a teachable moment. There is no shame in learning from one’s mistakes.
Not addressing the negative behavior depicted in the special is awkward at best and implies that Ms. Kardashian either doesn’t get it or she doesn’t care. Her loyal fans deserve more.
Ms. Kardashian came off as extremely immature, selfish, naive and hurtful. Having followed her career for sometime I have to believe she’s embarrassed by much of her behavior on the special. Why not stand up and say so? Why not be a true role model to young women and young couples?
The only person Ms. K can speak for is herself. The only person she can change is herself. This sin’t about he/said she said. This is about Ms. K making things right with herself, with her family and with her fans. Why not say – I was young and inexperienced, I had expectations for the marriage and instead of realizing it wasn’t fair or reasonable to expect my husband to conform to my expectations, and instead of seeking counseling, I/we tried to handle it on my/our own. Instead of exhausting every single resource available to young couples, I/we chose to handle it on my/our own. I’ve learned X,Y, Z.
What about a little a humility? How about – I’m not proud of belittling my husband in front of a room full of people on camera when I knew it would be broadcast around the world. I’m not proud of expecting his definition of marriage to match mine. I’m not proud of expecting him to conform to my expectations for a “clean” home. I’m not proud of throwing a fit over a broken toe nail. I’m not proud of hitting my husband. I’m not proud of not knowing how to create and maintain healthy boundaries for myself, my husband and our marriage.
I’m not too proud to admit I don’t have all the answers. I’m not too proud to admit I need to do some self work and make some changes. I’m not too proud to admit I made mistakes.
Who wouldn’t embrace that from their reality TV star idol?
real talk….Im sorry to hear about your recent divorce…dont know too much about it other than what I see in the media and your shows…BUT…I just strongly feel like celebrity marriages RARELY work out. You need someone whos more down to earth, not in the spotlight, an average 9-5 guy that will love you for you, the real you away from the spotlight. It’s a balance. You being the successful person you are, I really think would balance out with just an average guy. hmmm..just a thought….lol I know it ll never ever happen, but Id be stupid not to try, but if it makes any sense to you…feel free to get at me…c.mandac@gmail.com and lets talk! doesnt hurt to try or have a conversation with an average guy from southern cal..
