My fiance (Nick) and I met during our senior year of college on spring break in Las Vegas. It was so easy and comfortable and I loved his sense of humor. What made it even better is that we were both from New Jersey! We immediately started a relationship.
At the end of last summer (2010), I was diagnosed at 24 years old with stage 2 breast cancer. In the months following, I underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and ongoing surgeries. During these tough months, I had the best support from not only my family, but my boyfriend as well. After all this treatment, he stood by my side. He never flinched when my long blonde hair fell out. He didn’t flinch when I couldn’t move my arms after surgery. He didn’t flinch when all I talked about was my doctor appointments.
A few weeks after my final radiation, Nick popped the question at the school I work out. It was so romantic. He said he wanted to wait until I was healthy, happy, and all better. He even stated that I am the strongest woman he has ever known and he wanted me to be his wife! This wedding means so much to us as 2011 has been the worst year and the best year all wrapped into one!
