While I was at the Today Show this morning I saw a story about a Memphis high school where 90 young female students were either pregnant or have given birth this year! I just couldn’t believe this and I find it so sad and disturbing. It seems that shows like Teen Mom are all of a sudden making teen pregnancy seem cool in the eyes of young girls. The kids from these shows are all over the news, even on the covers of magazines, and have been become almost like celebrities, but girls, these are not people you should idolize!

When I think back to when I was 16, there is no way I would even have considered having a baby. That thought wouldn’t even have entered my head. Having a baby is one one of the biggest, and most life-changing decisions a person can make and while I’m not saying that no teen is in the position to raise a child, having a baby so young shouldn’t be seen as the trendy thing to do.

Girls, please, think very carefully before you make these kind of decisions. Talk to your family, friends, teachers, and most of all, be careful.

Kim I completely understand where you are coming from, however you act like these young girls on teen mom asked to become tabloid/reality celebrities, you out of all people should know how the media blows things out of proportion. I had a baby as a teenager myself and trust me I definitely didn’t think there was anything “trendy” about getting pregnant but when you act irresponsibly there are consequences and pregnancy was mine just like the young women on teen mom. And when you say “there is no way I would even have considered having a baby at 16….”, I find that statement to be ignorant you act as if these girls wanted to be teen moms, when its obvious they were being careless and now their struggling to raise a child and continue to forward their own lives… ( I’m sure when you were a teenager there was a time you were irresponsible too…not everyone gets pregnant). Its not easy, and if anything I think that this show is a prime example of why young girls should either rap it up or keep it closed! I think you need to look at both sides before you judge! And lets not forget where your fame began…Teen Mom is reality!…believe it or not! Not everyone is from Beverly Hills and has connections!.. just saying :)

Hey kim I am Shenika and i live in The Bahamas. I really thought that this message so inspiring because parents really need 2 talk to their kids about sex and also tell them about the responbibilities their is when having a child.. I am 19 now and i thought of having a child when i was 17 but i really changed my mind when i saw a friend of mines struggle to take care of her child and how she had to drop out of school and give up her dreams to now be a parent. Im glad I did’nt make the same mistake she did…

    Love you Doll

i think that kim kardashian has no idea what shes talking about.
if you look back to when the girls were on 16 and pregnant there is nothing glamourous about it. shes a fake!!

I agree. I couldn’t imagine being a mom at such a young age. I’m not sure these shows have an impact one way or the other but teenage pregnancy is definitely out of hand these days.

I am disgusted and truly offended by this. I was a big fan and follower of your shows, and no longer will be. In fact, first thing in the morning, I’ll be putting a stop to those recordings. I’m fed up with you. I am a teen mother of a boy who I am the best mother in the world to, and I turn to teen mom for comparison and relief of stress to know there are others. For you to bash the television show and blame them for teen pregnancys and act as ifs trying to pertray an image of :”hey get pregnant its cool”. At the beginning of every singe show it says a message to the teens withouth kids that pregnancy is 100 percent preventable. The mothers on teen mom are stressed, angry, and most of all happy with their children they mother well, most of them at least. We try hard and no i wouldnt with it for anyone but we’re here and we shouldnt be bashed on, by someone like you kim kardashian. Do you enjoy acting like you care for the fans, one i use to be, and act like you educate them when you dont know what you’re even taliking about?! You should be ashamed. You’ve posed naked multiple multiple times, in playboy, but we pose naked in privacy get pregnant take the responsibility not happily all of the time and someone like you doing the things you do, posing naked, doing the thing that made you a celebrity and you’re bashing it. It makes me feel like you’re bashing me. Its personal. It is not teen moms fault. didnt your sister have a baby unplanned. oh yeah it was at 30 though so its okay. i DONT SUPPORT GETTING PREGNANT AT MY AGE LIKE I DID AND HAVING SEX LIKE I DID BUT IF YOU DID AND DO AND HAVE A BABY DONT BE ASHAMED. i will now dread even having to see your face in tabloids. disrespectful. get off your high horse you have no room to comment a thing.

I must say I am really not too thrilled with this comment. It is a tid bit offensive. I’m not saying that Teen Mom doesn’t provoke teen pregnancy…but I am a teen mother myself and I didn’t get pregnant because of some MTV hit series. But for you to judge who someones role model should be….?? I mean who should be a role model? You? You are a fashion trend…I wonder how many teens are trying to be like you because you were their “role model”?? So before you preach about someones role model….why don’t you think about what kind of example YOU are setting!

Of course nobody should even consider having a baby at such a young age. I am 24, I am getting married in a few month and I have a job, and still I can’t even think about having a baby soon. It is a huge responsibility and everything you do will decide the health and well being of a new human being you bring to the world. It could be the biggest responsibility you will ever have. It is not only about missing out on so many stage sin your life, you will be affecting your own child negatively.

BRAVO Kim! Continue to stand strong…this generation needs more positive role models like you & your sisters…especially young girls! You give me hope in a world so full of those with no morals or beliefs. God bless!
