I recently met this amazing woman named Suzanne “Africa” Engo at a dinner for the Diamond Empowerment Fund with Russell Simmons.

She is truly inspiring because of her influential work in AIDS activism. “Africa” founded the New York AIDS Film Festival, the first film festival on HIV/AIDS in the world, says the United Nations. She is also involved with countless other AIDS-related causes, including the D.E.F.

What amazes me the most is that “Africa” recently finished a very long run from New York to Chicago—all in honor of raising awareness for HIV/AIDS. What an accomplishment! She ran 858 miles!

I am mainly writing this to you to show you how just one person can make such a huge difference! I hope you find her story as inspiring as I have!

Go Africa!

Wow, it’s so great that youre shining some light on this. I admire people like Africa. And yes you can’t cure AIDS, yet. Should we quit now and never find a cure? No! Go Africa!

this subject is close to my heart, and I think that Kim has gained awareness of this matter and she just wants to adress it to all of us, maybe this was an eye opening experience, and she just wants to recall it to all of us, her fans. In her case, she doesn’t have to give thousands of dollars to an event, just so that it means that she cares. Why doesn;t anyone then, I do many run/walk events and I feel as i’m contributing as well. It’s how proactive you are about it and she has gotten us to talk about the subject and actually voice our opinion.

Wow! 858 miles is a story to tell! That’s definitely inspirational. And what a great charity..its nice to see other branches of charity work raising awareness for AIDS/HIV other than big organizations like UNICEF. This woman made a change for sure.
