You guys!Khloe and I just got an email from P. Diddy about getting revved up for the upcoming presidential election. I am more psyched than ever to remind you that NOW it is SO important for all of you who are old enough to get involved and vote and tell everyone you know to get out there and vote! Spread the word, everyone has a voice!!!!
It's our responsibility to get the right people in office to get our country back on track!
Who are you guys voting for?
Below I put the email that l I received from Diddy, Jay Z, Mary J Blidge and Kevin Liles. It really inspired me and I hope it inspires you too!!
***LETTER FROM DIDDY***
Dear Family,
We are in a STATE OF EMERGENCY!!! - we are only 31 days from the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME. We are still at war, banks are closing, and people are losing their jobs and houses every day. It is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to protect our futures. Time is about to run out, and there is still a lot of work to be done. Barack Obama cannot win this election on his own; He needs our help. This election is about US. This election is about our children's futures. We owe it to those who fought and died for our right to vote and our right to be heard.
Barack Obama said it best, "Eight is Enough." No longer will we stand by and follow leadership with no regard for us, and no accountability to us.
We can be the deciding factor in this election. Who are we? We are young America. We are Hip-Hop. We are the culture that has defied statistics and the critics. THIS IS OUT MOMENT OF TRUTH!!!!
We are the leaders of this generation. When we speak, people listen. But the time is NOW for us to use the voices that God blessed us with. We are the ones with the mics, we are the ones on television, we are the ones in the end zone, we are the ones on the court, we are the ones on the radio, and we are the ones in the hearts and minds of young Americans of all colors. WE ARE CHANGE!
Now is the time to do our part to make change a reality and help elect Obama as President. Whether you can speak about it in your radio and television interviews or on stage at your concerts, put it on your website and blogs and push your fans toward it, whether you are head of a street team, or a VJ or DJ. Use your power. If you know 10-20 people, we need to register them to vote and bring them to the polls.
Even if you e-mail every person on your blackberry - do something - DO ALL YOU CAN DO!!!. Make sure that when November 4th comes, we are able to say that we did EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER to make sure that Barack Obama becomes president. We owe this to our children, our parents, our grandparents, and our loved ones. We need you to become a part of Team Obama!!!!!
We are working directly with the campaign and have come up with different ways for you to get involved in this election. We don't need a lot from you, we just need some simple things. Some of you have agreed to do concerts, some of you have agreed to speak in swing states. We all need to continue to DO MORE - video drops, radio interviews, and possibly more appearances as we count down the days to change. This is the most important election in our lifetime. Please use the platform you've been blessed with to urge those who listen to you to make Barack Obama the next President of the United States. Don't forget your personal duty as a citizen. Register to vote, and VOTE TO MAKE HISTORY!!!!!!!
BECOME A PART OF TEAM OBAMA!!!
God Bless,
Sean "Diddy" Combs
Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter
Mary J. Blige

Love the video! You know, it's really scary to think just how ignorant so many North Americans are. I lived in the U.S.A for 3 months this year and saw what the real America is like, not just sunny, stylish California - the U.S.A that is portrayed to the rest of the world. Unfortunately I found it to be mostly made up of unintelligent red-necks so it is no surprise to me now why George Bush won the election - it shouldn't even have been close between him and Al Gore. All youhad to do was watch the democratic and republican national conventions to see the difference in each party's supporters. Seriously, you Republicans looked like a bunch of hillbillies! I believe John McCain is a courageous and noble man but Barack Obama is all that and more. In a sense, he has overcome just as many odds as McCain to get where he is today. I am tired of hearing all this nonsense about him being black etc - seriously guys! He is just as much white as he is black is he not?! Forget colour, that is not the issue and I'm sure intelligent Americans like some who have already posted realise that. Barack Obama will be an amazing leader, he has all the right visions and I believe he has the strength of character to see them through. Sarah Palin is not a nice woman and if any Hilary supporters switch to vote Republican simply because there is a woman on the ticket, well, you are idiots. The chosong of your President and Vice-President is too serious of an issue to allow race and gender issues to affect your decision.
Barack is truly inspirational and I'm so excited too see him elected President - it will mean great changes and hope for the whole world and we so need that!

i vote for obama. he will help with the economy.while the whole world is improving we are having a recession because of bush.obama will help more students to afford colleges etc. he is a good man. He wasn't born with everything so he knows how hard life is for the vast majority of familys that didn't grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth. McCain on the other hand wants to give tax reduction to CEOs and such when the economy is bad and the rich business man doesn't even need it.but money and greed always corrupts people and mcCain is bush the second.plus mcCain, palin, and their supporters speeches, they never talk about how they want to fix the economy even we are in dire needs. the republicans just try to badmouth obama and and link him to teriorist which is stupid.McCAin for his age, is immature too he wouldn't shake obamas hand. and then people caught him so then he now finally shakes obamas hand.if mcCain wins presidency then i know our gov. is corrupted because evryone i know wants obama to be president. republicans and their supporters are trying to make everyone believe that people are voting for obama because he is black which is not true. obama will make a good president. the only people that really care and always say that he is "black" are the republicans(mcCain,Palin,Supporters), they seem to throw that word out to the people a lot. almost like they are trying to build anger and violance against obama. SHADY..REAL SHADY..

Yea, lets all vote Palin as vice, she is the biggest idiot (she has foreign policy experience because she lives near Canada and can see Russia!!). John McCain told the media him self he didnt know how to use the computer!! John McCain has voted 90% with Bush. John McCain is 72. John McCain was a part of Keating 5. John McCain promotes free-market even with the economy like this. John McCain and Sarah Palin run a hated and smear campaign. Do you really want another rich, special interest, republican in office?
80% of CEO support John McCain and 74% fear an Obama Presidency

its not so much what you left out as what you put in...
who said that if you had a bi-racial kid, or any race kid for that matter, that you had to be getting help from the government???
i didn't see a post that said that =S
i hope there is one, or you have some things you need to sort out in your head.one being so insecure about the race of your child that you read between lines when there is nothing to read. that can't be a good feeling for a child... or two, you're so proud of your child that you bring up his race for no reason at all. that also would be strange for a child..
anyway, if there is a post that says that i am sorry and i didn't mean any of that

OK EVERYONE LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT OBAMA IS NOT BLACK HIS MOTHER IS WHITE AND HIS FATHER IS BLACK WHICH MAKES HIM WHAT.............BI-RACIAL!!!!!! NOW HE ALWAYS SAYS AS A BLACKMAN BUT HE DID NOT KNOW HIS FATHER HARDLY NOR HIS FATHERS FAMILY. i AM NOT RACIST BOTH OF MY SONS ARE BI-RACIAL. I HAVE RAISED THEM AS A SINGLE MOM WITH NO HELP NOT EVEN FROM THE GOVERMENT(FOR ALL THE HATERS) AND IF MY KIDS PULL THE BLACK CARD TICKET MAN I WOULD GO UP ON THAT STAGE AND LET THEM KNOW SOMETHING. OBAMA GREW UP IN MIDDLE UPPER CLASS WHITE NEIGHBORHOODS. I AM SURE IT WAS HARD BEING A BI RACIAL CHILD AND MAN GROWERING UP AT THAT TIME BUT I AM SURE IT WAS NOT AS HARD AS BEING A BLACKMAN OR WOMAN IN THOSE TIMES. I AM 34 AND I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS 10 A BLACK BOY STARTED TO CRY BECAUSE I INVITED HIM TO MY BIRTHDAY. I ASKED HIM WHY ARE YOU CRYING AND HE TOLD ME BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD A WHITE PERSON BE SO NICE TO ME. THAT IS SOMETHING I WILL NEVER FORGET. I AM SURE OBAMA NEVER FELT AS THAT BOY DID THAT DAY. I AM NOT A HATER OF HIM. I JUST DO NOT THINK IS SECURE WITH WHO HE IS. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SECURE A COUNTRY IF YOU CAN NOT BE SECURE WITH YOURSELF. LISTEN TO WHEN HE SPEAKS IN INTREVIEWS HE IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. I FOUND THIS WHEN READING ON THE NET IT RINGS SO TRU...."Derailed by details. Liars often try to divert you from their falsehoods by detailing you to death. They'll get you so bogged down by the minutiae of the story that you lose track of what they're saying or you get tired of listening. Never hesitate to ask for clarification if the story seems confusing or doesn't add up." HE CAN NOT MAKE INSURANCE COMPANIES INSURE YOU FOR PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. SO PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THAT. WHEN YOU DO GO VOTE GO AND VOTE FOR THE RIGHT REASONS NOT BECAUSE THAT PERSON IS THE IT PERSON BECAUSE THE STARS LIKE HIM OR CAUSE YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEEM RACIST.WHOM EVER YOU VOTE FOR DO IT BECAUSE YOU FEEL IN YOU HEART IT IS RIGHT. AS FAR AS THOSE PPL BUSTING ON KIM FOR ALWAYS DATING BLACK MEN SO WHAT GET A LIFE WHO CARES IF SHE ISHAPPY AND HE IS HAPPY THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS.IF YOU HAVE UGLY THINGS TO SAY ABOUT KIM JUST DON'T COME ON HER SITE.I LOVE YOU KIM SO DO MY 2 SONS WE LOVE THE WHOLE FAMILY IT REMINDS US OF OUR FAMILY. WHEN EVERYTHING GETS TO YOU...... KEEP YOUR HEAD UP LOOK INTO THE SKY AND SMILE AND KNOW YOUR DADDY IS LOOKING AT YOU GIRLS AND HE IS PROUD YOU ALL

kerry,
you said working and poor...ha-HA! have you forgotten this is the USA?!?!? I just watched a documentary called "lost boys" the other day. these folks came to the US, from suddan, with nothing at all, worked their asses off and became very successful. my point is, the poor choose to be poor that fact is proven over and over again with hard working folks coming to the united states to live the dream. the same dream that these lazy bums (american gimme-gimmes) pretend is being withheld from them because a certain political party is in office. its BS! you, sir, or whatever, are an enabler! you should really step back and look at things for what they are and stop trying to place blame on folks that have nothing to do with situations! i mean come on! the people in the democratic party know this. they use these issues because they know its your weakness. think of how many democrats have been in office. now tell me how many folks got off their butts after the "help" they recieved while those folks were in office. none! democrats use these issues to make folks dependant on the government. the reason for that now is to breed constituents (ie: if you need the government to live, you're gonna vote for big government). later it will be so the government your debt **cough** *government bailout* **cough**, your life style and eventually YOU!
so keep spreading their socialist message you lap dog!

Why is it so important to vote when our vote doesnt even count. We are not the ones who decide who the Prez will be. The electorial votes are the ones that count and they do not have to vote the way we want so why does it matter.
Also the fact that our only 2 candidates are rejects with their own personal agendas does not help!
this is obviously just my opinion, however i the McCain is greedy and Obama is the Anti-Christ.

Vote McCain. He may not be the best choice but he's a better pick then Obama.

i'd also like you to tell me, specifically, how mccain is trying to get rich off america??? you just say things! its become way to typical of voters on both sides and i hate to say it, but i think you're an idiot that should have to be tested in order to vote

uhh says: | Reply
cheryl, i understand what you're saying and i respect your personal opinion.but facts are facts. obama supports more than pulling the troops out in a safe in timely fasion (by the way, mccain supports the same, just has a realistic way to do it). he is also an advocate for HUGE government. a government that would put bush's to shame. knowing that and now knowing that that same huge government, should he be elected, would own yours and most other americans debts (ie: bailout pkg) should scare the piss out of you. he also wants a socialized medical program. meaning everyone and their mom would have it. that sounds great in a speech and on paper, but if you think about it there is no way in hell it would ever work. if everyone has health care the hospitals and drs offices would be flooded and there would be a wait, maybe one long enough to do real damage to the person waiting for treatment. on top of that, does anyone really trust the government to make enough money to pay for a huge surgery, if one should need it? what % of our checks are gonna go into the new health care plan?? 20%???? thats a crap load of money to us, but not enough to fund a $500,000 dollar treatment. they'd let you die before they ever got you in to see a dr.
i know i was all over the place with that, sorry, but i'm sleepy and i doubt my point would be heard on kim's page anyway. i guess all i'm sayin' is it seems the political rhetoric is working effectively on people.. i thought we were smarter as a country.
ps, kim, please don't endorse either of these fools. i feel bad for the celebs that already have.

It kills me to think that America is still so racially divided. Are the American's that scared of a "black man" this truly is not fully African American? He has white in him too, white folks. Obama is looking out for us as Americans, and not for money in his pocket. He's not trying to get rich of America like Bush has done, and like McCain is trying to do. Bush is killing innocent lives each and everyday, and he's only over there because of the oil. He hasn't even focused on the problem of Al Quida or Bin Laden. If he has, he would have been the first one captured and killed, not Hussain. No way in hell does 90% of American want another dumb ass republican in the White House. I will move to Canada if another republic gets voted into office!
Cheryl says: | Reply
It seems that many of you only have negative comments about Obama and those who are voting for him with no real facts to base these assumptions on.
I'm voting for Obama. I'm a recent recruit into the U.S. Armed Services and I come from a long line of military officers. Even my father, a backwoods, gun-toting, self-proclaimed "eduacted redneck" is voting for Obama due to his strong record of supporting increased VA benefits and having a time-line strategy to end this war.
I believe it would be a false assumption to think that having a time-line would be dishonoring those that have died. My father is a Vietnam Veteran who remembers well the gross mishandling of that war, and sees many similarities in the prolonged catastrophe of this one. It would be a greater dishonor to have no plan or end in sight. We can win the battle with guns, but we can not win the war in the same fashion.
McCain would like to wander the desert there for another 50 to 100 years (check out therealmccain.com to hear this speech from his own mouth). There are more reasons to vote for Obama than I can truely list here (healthcare, education, foreign relations). To get a more upclose view of these issues and to look ones that may be closer to your heart check out barackobama.com.
By the way, if you are going to attempt an intelligent comment about serious issues, you should really do your research ( Fox News doesn't count) and check your spelling. Otherwise, it just makes you sound ignorant.

Iraq, Afghanistan and now Iran---how would you feel if some random man comes to your house and kills your mom dad, sisters and brothers and if you ask why, he would say "I was protecting you from your dad because hes not a good man."
But you know what, Bush killed many innocent kids and innocent women, ---God will never forgive that. Everyone's prayers are with Obama. He may or may not be a muslim--but he is black, he is been through pain. He will never let someone else go through that.
Obama will win, remember my words!

Barack Obama is the most hurtful thing that could happen to america at this point and time. Dont be fooled by listening to the hype, the bush blame doctrine, and vote for him. Yes, our economy is in bad shape, but it IS not the fault of a prior administration. People need to do some real research. As history proves, raising capital gain taxes always HURT the economy. Yeah you are taxing the rich more-- well who are the rich, anyone who is employed is employed by someone "rich" somewhere up the ladder. This means if large businesses are getting taxed more, they CUT jobs, and RAISE prices. I am all for everyone getting a fair shot at everything but taking from the rich will destroy our economy, and i myself am certainly not rich.

And the only reason people are saying some people vote for Barack Obama because he's black is because some are. Not every one is. One kid in my class last year had the nerve to say watch out white people when Obama gets in powers it's going to be on. I mean really. Kim,
Political choices are PERSONAL.
We know that you unveil EVERYTHING about U (U know what i'm talking to...)
Intimacy is not for U.
But you can't ask people "who are u voting for" !!
Do U realize?
And instead of making this sort of advertisment, are U really able to take stock of what Obama intends to do?
Then do it, cause this will AT LAAAST prove people that... U got brains.
We are waiting...
Ralph Nader For President says: | Reply
I am voting for Ralph Nader. I don't understand why the media and politics only make you decide between two candidates. There are more than two out there!!
Nader supports so many that I believe in including universal health care, to stop global warming, ending the war NOW and against the bailout.
And he did not cost Gore his nomination,it has been proven, so stop blaming him! He is for the people all the way.
Go to votenader.org to learn more. THERE ARE MORE CANDIDATES OUT THERE.
What matters is what they support, not their political party.

THE NAVY BRAT
John Sidney McCain III has spent most of his life trying to escape the shadow of greater men. His grandfather Adm. John Sidney "Slew" McCain earned his four stars commanding a U.S. carrier force in World War II. His deeply ambitious father, Adm. "Junior" McCain, reached the same rank, commanding America's forces in the Pacific during Vietnam.
The youngest McCain was not cut from the same cloth. Even as a toddler, McCain recalls in Faith of My Fathers, his volcanic temper was on display. "At the smallest provocation," he would hold his breath until he passed out: "I would go off in a mad frenzy, and then, suddenly, crash to the floor unconscious." His parents cured him of this habit in a way only a CIA interrogator could appreciate: by dropping their blue-faced boy in a bathtub of ice-cold water.
Trailing his hard-charging, hard-drinking father from post to post, McCain didn't play well with others. Indeed, he concedes, his runty physique inspired a Napoleon complex: "My small stature motivated me to . . . fight the first kid who provoked me."
McCain spent his formative years among the Washington elite. His father — himself deep in the throes of a daddy complex — had secured a political post as the Navy's chief liaison to the Senate, a job his son would later hold, and the McCain home on Southeast 1st Street was a high-powered pit stop in the Washington cocktail circuit. Growing up, McCain attended Episcopal High School, an all-white, all-boys boarding school across the Potomac in Virginia, where tuition today tops $40,000 a year. There, McCain behaved with all the petulance his privilege allowed, earning the nicknames "Punk" and "McNasty." Even his friends seemed to dislike him, with one recalling him as "a mean little fucker."
McCain was not only a lousy student, he had his father's taste for drink and a darkly misogynistic streak. The summer after his sophomore year, cruising with a friend near Arlington, McCain tried to pick up a pair of young women. When they laughed at him, he cursed them so vilely that he was hauled into court on a profanity charge.
McCain's admittance to Annapolis was preordained by his bloodline. But martial discipline did not seem to have much of an impact on his character. By his own account, McCain was a lazy, incurious student; he squeaked by only by prevailing upon his buddies to help him cram for exams. He continued to get sauced and treat girls badly. Before meeting a girlfriend's parents for the first time, McCain got so shitfaced that he literally crashed through the screen door when he showed up in his white midshipman's uniform.
His grandfather's name and his father's forbearance brought McCain a charmed existence at Annapolis. On his first trip at sea — to Rio de Janeiro aboard the USS Hunt — the captain was a former student of his father. While McCain's classmates learned the ins and outs of the boiler room, McCain got to pilot the ship to South America and back. In Rio, he hobnobbed with admirals and the president of Brazil.
Back on campus, McCain's short fuse was legend. "We'd hear this thunderous screaming and yelling between him and his roommate — doors slamming — and one of them would go running down the hall," recalls Phil Butler, who lived across the hall from McCain at the academy. "It was a regular occurrence."
When McCain was not shown the pampering to which he was accustomed, he grew petulant — even abusive. He repeatedly blew up in the face of his commanding officer. It was the kind of insubordination that would have gotten any other midshipman kicked out of Annapolis. But his classmates soon realized that McCain was untouchable. Midway though his final year, McCain faced expulsion, about to "bilge out" because of excessive demerits. After his mother intervened, however, the academy's commandant stepped in. Calling McCain "spoiled" to his face, he nonetheless issued a reprieve, scaling back the demerits. McCain dodged expulsion a second time by convincing another midshipman to take the fall after McCain was caught with contraband.

Kim- STOP trying to push others to vote for Obama. Obama is the antichrist that believes in partial birth abortions (7 1/2 mnths). Imagine your sisters put to death at that age. A Christian would NEVER vote for Obama. In the end times our country will be run by a muslim male in his 40's that promises world peace and everyone will look up to him. He will have the world fooled. READ THE BIBLE if you know what one is, you atheist. You have to answer one day for trying to influence others. That's dangerous grounds and money won't buy you out of it. The first here will be the last in Heaven (if you actually make it there).

The stament made "half of America is voting for Obama because he is black" doesn't even make sense. Knowing the history of the US, many whites have been racist. So the statement made doesn't even make sense...Obama has manyyyyyyy white supporters (and no they are no wiggers) they are white Americans who want a change. Noone wants 4 more years of Republicans! We have had enough w/ Bush. Yes I do agree some blacks are going to vote for him just b/c he is black...but I really doubt it that Whites, Hispanics and Asians are just going to vote for Obama b/c he is "black". That doesn't even make any sense. Ppl want a change, and don't get salty ppl because America is putting skin on the side (for once) and voting for the realest guy. I think ppl see Obama as an honest guy who is down to earth, and that is why he is captivating American people. Get over it! Obama for 08!

I just want to let the Kardashains/Jenner are a very postive family I think that giving all the media and how they especially with how negetive they can be and always are thrieving on the negetive instead the positive. Everyone has a past and they deal with the decisions they make and have made everyday they don't need to be reminded of it daily. As for me and my family we do watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians and my girls do look up to all that are on the show and I feel that they are a typical american family. Except for the difference is that we aren't in the media everyday and they are. Keep up the positive work and We love ya'll

Hello Kim,
I'm sure your fans are intelligent enough to do their research and make their own decision in regards to who they want to vote for president. My vote goes to Obama. Obama will get my vote, not because he is black but because he is the best person for the job. People are so full of hate and afraid to make a change. Even though Obama is the best person for the job, most whie americans will not vote for him because he is black. We clearly need a change.

I've been split in half when it comes this election. My parents believe one way and my boyfriend believes another. I think one major problem with our country that EVERY ONE seems to forget is what our country was based on. What we stand for. You can tell from this entry. We are so far divided. Every ones GO RED GO BLUE GO REPUBLICANS GO DEMOCRAT WOOO. No we need to pull together and find out whats best for our country despite the race. We need to research each canidate equally. George Washington said there shouldn't be political parties. And he was a smart man. I don't know if any one will read this but I hope that you make the right choice base on your knowledge of the canditates. And please stop calling people who vote for Obama/McCain Stupid. They are not. They go by what the believe no matter what you think.

Palin: Obama Not Qualified to Be Commander-in-Chief
Email
Share October 03, 2008 2:02 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis, Rigel Anderson, and Arnab Datta Report: Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Sarah Palin indicated for the first time that she does not consider Barack Obama qualified to be commander in chief and sharply criticized him for saying last year that U.S. troops in Afghanistan are "just air raiding villages and killing civilians."
Calling Obama "reckless," Palin said that where she comes from Obama's remarks "disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief."
"Some of his comments that he's made about the war, that I think, in my world disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief," said Palin. "Some of the comments he's made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, 'just air raiding villages and killing civilians.' That's reckless."
Palin invoked Obama's "just air raiding villages and killing civilians" remark during her Fox News interview as an example of the kind of issue that she wanted to be asked about by Katie Couric, the CBS News anchor who recently stumped the Alaska governor by asking her to name a Supreme Court case other than Roe v. Wade with which she disagrees.
The Alaska governor first brought up her objection to Obama's comments at Thursday's debate.
"That's not what we're doing there," said Palin, referring to Afghanistan. "We're fighting terrorists, and we're securing democracy, and we're building schools for children there so that there is opportunity in that country."
Obama made his controversial remarks while campaigning in New Hampshire on Aug. 13, 2007. His comments came when he was asked how he would refocus U.S. troops out of Iraq to better fight terrorism.
Watch Obama's remarks here: LINK
"We've gotta get the job done there," said Obama, referring to the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, "and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there."
The Obama campaign responded to Palin's criticism by standing by the Illinois Democrat's 2007 remarks, directing ABC News to an Associated Press fact check from Aug. 14, 2007 which says of Afghanistan that "Western forces have been killing civilians at a faster rate than the insurgents have been killing civilians."
The McCain campaign slammed Obama for not retracting the "just air raiding villages and killing civilians" remark and instead pointing to data about civilian deaths in Afghanistan.
"Americans have at times questioned Senator Obama's support for American troops because of what were believed to be ill-considered remarks," said McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb. "The fact that Barack Obama and his campaign would stand by this statement is a stunning admission to the contrary -- Barack Obama actually believes American troops are engaged in war crimes as a matter of routine."

Exclusive: Barack Obama is 'aloof' says British ambassador to US
Barack Obama is a "decidedly liberal" senator "who was finding his feet, and then got diverted by his presidential ambitions", according to a frank verdict delivered to Gordon Brown by the British ambassador to the United States.
Sir Nigel Sheinwald, ambassador in Washington since last year, delivered his unvarnished assessment of the White House front runner in a seven-page letter to the Prime Minister, obtained by The Daily Telegraph, just before the Democratic nominee's visit to Downing Street just over two months ago.
The candid letter, marked as containing "sensitive judgements" and requesting officials to "protect the contents carefully" gives a remarkable insight into how the Foreign Office views the political phenomenon who stunned Mr Brown's inner circle by defeating their favourite, Hillary Clinton, in the Democratic primaries.
Although the picture Sir Nigel paints is a highly complimentary one - Mr Obama's speeches are "elegant" and "mesmerising", he is "highly intelligent" and has "star quality" - he also judges that his "policies are still evolving" and that if elected he will "have less of a track record than any recent president".
The letter's contents suggest that Mr Brown could initially find it difficult to deal with a President Obama because he remains a largely unknown quantity who "resists pigeon-holing" and the leak is likely to complicate relations.
Last month, the prime minister was forced to backtrack after an article written in his name broke with convention by showering praise on the Democratic candidate at the expense of his Republican rival, Senator John McCain of Arizona.
Sir Nigel traces the ambition of Mr Obama, 47, to reach the White House right back to his 20s or before. "He has talked at least since the 1980s about a shot at the Presidency."
He also identifies several political vulnerabilities that Sen McCain will seek to exploit in the last month of his campaign against the Illinois senator. The leaked letter will provide him with welcome ammunition.
Mr Obama "can seem to sit on the fence, assiduously balancing pros and cons", Sir Nigel wrote, and "does betray a highly educated and upper middle class mindset". Charges of elitism "are not entirely unfair" and he is "maybe aloof, insensitive" at times.
"He can talk too dispassionately for a national campaign about issues which touch people personally, eg his notorious San Francisco comments [in April] about small-town Pennsylvanians 'clinging' to guns and religion."
Mr Obama's Democratic primary victory over the former First Lady showed that "he is tough and competitive. This is of course the Chicago school.
You don't beat Clinton without being resilient" but "his energy levels do dip and he can be uninspiring e.g. in debates".
Curiously, there is no mention of his wife Michelle - a central figure in his rise and his closest adviser - and little examination of his time in Chicago, where he had radical associations, or his background in Hawaii, essential to understanding why "Obama is cool", as the letter puts it.
Sir Nigel detects a potential clash between Downing Street and an Obama administration over Iran.
"If Obama wins, we will need to consider with him the articulation between (a) his desire for 'unconditional' dialogue with Iran and (b) our and the [United Nations Security Council]'s requirement of prior suspension of enrichment before the nuclear negotiations proper can begin."
But Sir Nigel - who described the Iraq war as "the Iraq expedition" and "Bush's Iraq adventure" - briefed that Mr Obama's Iraq policy gelled with Britain's.
"Whatever the detail, our own proposed transition in south-east Iraq would be consistent with Obama's likely approach. Obama's ideas on a more expansive regional framework for Iraq would also fit well with our thinking."
He wrote approvingly of Mr Obama's "mainstream team of youthful economic advisers, with strong credentials [who] approach policy with refreshingly few prescriptions", his "progressive position on climate change" and his 'pragmatic realism" and "balanced approach to the big security issues".
Sir Nigel concludes that searching for a deal between Israel and the Palestinians is "unlikely to be a top priority for Obama" and he expresses concern about his protectionist trade policy, while noting that he has "repositioned himself somewhat towards free trade".
British officials said that since it became clear that Mr Obama would overcome Mrs Clinton, Sir Nigel had worked hard to dampen down what he viewed as "Obamamania" within Downing Street that had become so strong that he feared it might alienate the McCain campaign.
Sir Nigel's letter, though initially drafted by his political staff, is an intensely personal assessment of Mr Obama and is based largely on the ambassador's owns observations from the campaign trail.
He has travelled to rallies as far afield as New Hampshire and South Carolina - where he had a personal meeting with Mr McCain - and to the party conventions in Denver and St Paul, Minnesota.
Although he has the lowest public profile of any recent British ambassador in Washington, Sir Nigel has won respect for his range of contacts within the Bush administration and the campaigns.
The letter quotes Tom Daschle, a former Senate Majority Leader and Obama confidant who is hotly tipped to become White House chief of staff should Mr Obama be elected, from a private meeting with Sir Nigel.
There is a strong indication Sir Nigel also consulted Senator Richard Lugar, a Republican who has worked with Mr Obama on legislation and travelled abroad with him.
"Obama's politics and policies are still evolving," Sir Nigel wrote.
"His Illinois and US Senate careers give us only a few clues as to his likely priorities in office.
"In the Senate he took a low profile in 2005-6, but was a diligent member of the Foreign Relations Committee, respectful and friendly to the veteran Republican Senator Lugar, with whom he travelled to London in 2005.
"His voting record was decidedly liberal. But the main impression is of someone who was finding his feet, and then got diverted by his presidential ambitions."
Sir Nigel later reiterates the point: "Although he has been a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for four years, and a regular attender of meetings in his first two, there is little Obama track record to refer back to."
He highlights luck as a key factor in Mr Obama's rise. "He was certainly lucky in having Democratic and Republican opponents for the US Senate in 2004 who were tarnished. He was lucky that Hillary Clinton had such a bad organisation in the primary campaign, and took so long to respond to Obama's threat."

To the idiot who said that we shouldn't vote for Obama because of his name??? You might as well say don't vote for him because he's black. Again, what does skin color or a name, has to do with what's best for this country? How is McCain suppose to get this country "back on track," when him and his partner Bush is the reason this counrty got so off track, that we're on some dirt road on the way to nowhere? Stop acting like McCain is this "new" person who's suddenly gonna make us see the light, when he's probably been in office as long as Bush has. I'm voting for someone who knows who where Spain is, wants to work with (not bully) the rest of the world, and knows how many houses he has.
By the way, did you know that Sarah Palin's husband was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party? They want to be their own separate nation... and Michelle Obama's patriotism was called into question???
I want someone to speak the truth.
There are videos posted on YouTube all the time of soldiers ON ALL SIDES doing horrible things. Go check it out. People rape, mutilate, disembowel, and torture others ALL THE TIME. It is a fact and you can see it at the click of the mouse. Heck, it's in the news.
People do these horrible things because they can't make sense of what's going on and they have to be desensitized to it as a result. I know a soldier who spelled words out of bodies during Dessert Storm. It is happening, it is no joke, they aren't getting help, and no one notices it. No one cares when it's not happening to them.
But they took notice when a soldier threw a puppy off a cliff. Maybe because it was a cute, helpless puppy and not someone's husband, wife, or child.
Watch a documentary called "ZEITGEIST". Or THE YOUNG TURKS online.
We are so far away from where we should be as human beings that when we hear about the murder of someone, we start thinking about what color they were, where they lived, or what job they had, as if any of that makes a difference.
There is only one person in this election who is a symbol of life, peace and positivity and I will vote for that one, Republican, Democrat, or other.

Terrorist, a true American, Can you honestly say that if you are traveling out of this country that you are a proud supporter of The President, "Barak Obaman". Remember, the anti-christ? "Gog and Magog", "Barak" sounds so traditional, doesn't it? Just like John Adams, Ronald Reagan, and John F. Kennedy. Don't be fooled.

Please re-read all of my comments. All of them state that in no way am I hating on Obama. Nor am I showing support for McCain. My only point in posting a comment on this blog in the first place was that Diddy and other celebs should be asking people to vote based on facts, not their fav celebs opinion. People need to make up their on minds based on issue that matter.
The only reason people are getting so upset over my comment is because they know that it's true. I didn't say everyone voting for Obama wasn't educated on the issues. And I agree with you that a lot of Hillary supporters are going to vote McCain because of Palin, which I think is ridiculous too. So again, I will stress my point of listening to the debates, pay attention, then form an opinion. Voting based on race and gender (which a lot of people are doing) is a waste of an important vote.

Ok, I just have a few comments to make in response to some of the posts I've been reading.
1.) For those complaining about her endorsing Obama on this website, GET OVER IT. This is HER blog. A place for Kim to express her PERSONAL ideas and opinions. Whether or not you agree, keep in mind that you're coming to this site to get her perspective on different topics, and sometimes that may include politics.
2.) I am so sick and tired of people using the lame ass excuse that people are voting for Obama simply because he's black. Jesse Jackson ran in 1984 and 1988. And TRUST ME, black people didn't just jump on his bandwagon because of his skin color. In addition, there are 2 other BLACK candidate runnings this year that you hear NOTHING about Cynthia McKinney and Alan Keyes. The reason people love Obama is because he represents something new in this country. How sad to know that there are people out there who would throw a person's ethnicity into such a serious topic. Conservatives have been fighting against the racist perception that so many have of them, and all you're doing is strengthening the case against them.
Somthing to consider...if you're making comments that blacks are choosing Obama simply because of his skin color, does that mean you're NOT supporting him because of his skin color? I wonder...

anonymous 5:30pm - I'm assuming that you are an adult female, why are you begging for hair and makeup videos? Kim has posted makeup videos on here before. When the makeup videos are posted people start complaining that the makeup used is too expensive. You don't know how to apply your own makeup?
BTW - Who do you think does the Kardashian ladies hair? I know the answer, a hairstylist. They definitely have a hairstylist do their hair for appearances. Did you ever think to take a picture of your favorite Kourtney, Kim or Khloe hairstyle to the salon and tell them to style your hair that way? If you don’t visit a hair salon on a regular basis or semi-regular basis then you are out of your element.

First off, don't try to insult me just because you know what I'm saying is true. I don't disagree that there are people out there voting for McCain because he's not black (and they're dumb), but so many more people have registered to vote this year than previous years due to the fact that there is a black candidate running. If the only reason people aren't voting for McCain is because he's like Bush, where were all the voters 4 years ago to stop Bush from being elected? People that have no interest in politics or what's going on in the world are voting for someone based on their race. My point is that people need to pay attention more to what the candidates are doing for the country and less on what color their skin is.

Anonymous 4:22 you make a very good point. Everytime i hear celebrities talk about their concern for our economy, i end up scratching my head and wonder how exactly is the "bad economy" affecting those who has millions??? I mean, they don't have to worry about losing their jobs or their homes, so it's kinda hard for me to be in total agreeance with them on a subject they know nothing about, and are fortunate enough to not have to go through it. They're not on pins & needles wondering how they're going to be able to pay their rent or mortgage next month, they don't have to worry about how they're going to be able to continue to feed their kids with the rising food prices, or continue to fill up their gas tanks. I think it's safe to say that celebrities/rich people probably sympathize with our situations, but they can't empathize because they're not going through it.

Us average folks are suffering, you celebs are still going out to your Mr. Chow and going on your lavish vacations, only reason celebs care about the economy is because if us average folks can't afford to buy their perfume or go see their movies, then celebs won't make as much...booo hoooo.

Kim i think you should send that email to bruce and kris, since your parents are republicans lol ! And since you seem to be into politics now would you mind listing some of Obama's policies that you agree with lol ? You should encourage people to vote period, only mindless twits would vote for someone just because a celebrity told them to. Obama rejected Lindsay Lohan's offer to promote him so uhh...yeah. I hope everyone takes the time to read about the policies and watch the debates and make their own minds up as to who they vote for. I personally think Obama should win because i agree more with his stance than McCains. someone else may agree more with McCain and that's their right to. I took the time to learn, so should everyone else.

I know a lot of my friends are voting for Obama just because he's black, so yes, it is happening. You say "And if they are just voting because he's black who cares??!!" That is such an absurd statement! Absolutely everyone should be concerned that that's the only reason some people are voting. People want to complain about the state of the economy and all the problems in America, but they're only contributing to the problems by voting without knowing what a candidate stands for!! My point wasn't to bash Obama, it was to stress the point that the majority of people (but not everyone) have no idea what Obama would bring to America if he became elected as president. If you want to vote for him because you agree with his ideas, fine, but his race is NOT a good enough reason to get him elected.

And if they are just voting because he's black who cares??!! MOST Americans whether in this election, or any previous ones, can't tell you shit about where a candidate stands. They know the very basics and it boils down to a popularity contest...and most blacks are democrats. Who the hell do you think carried Bill Clinton's campaigns?
When Obama wins maybe all of the racists will flee to Mexico and that will balance the influx of illegal immigrants in our country.

I think it's pretty presumptuous, not to mention insulting, of people to ASSume that those voting for Obama are only doing so because he's black, or that celebrities are voting for him. When the truth is that we really don't want another Republican in office. Why? Well look at the last 8 years!!! This election has nothing to do with skin color, even though a lot of pro-Republicans wants to make it seem that way. I'm voting for Obama because i don't want to endure another 4 years of the FAILED policies of the Bush Administration, which is what Mccain & Palin want to continue to carry out. This country does need a change, and I believe that Obama, will give us that change.

I just think it's ridiculous that celebrities aren't encouraging you to listen to the debates and vote, they're trying to get you to blindly vote for who they back as president.
