A note about my Armenian background
I read in the comments that some of you thought it was inappropriate for me not to post about the anniversary of Armenian genocide (which took place just after World War I) and that I was being selfish for spending my day shopping instead.
For those of you who don’t already know, I am half Armenian. I do not speak Armenian, but my late father instilled in us a lot of Armenian culture. My dad was half Turkish Armenian and half Russian Armenian and my mother is German, Irish and Scottish.
Judging by the pictures you have seen on this site and from what the gossip blogs have been saying, I can see why you may have gotten the wrong idea. But that’s what the media put out… They didn’t know I was leaving for Australia, spending my only free day with my boyfriend, running every possible errand because I won’t be home for six weeks. From Australia, I land in Los Angeles and have just a few hours to switch bags before I leave for Shreveport, Louisiana, and won’t be back for more than a month!
After my day of running errands, I spent the evening with my late father’s side of the family. I went to an Armenian dinner with my family, like we often do. Of course, cameras weren’t there for that — and some things I like to keep private.
But all of the chatter really got me thinking… Do I know as much about my Armenian history as I would like to? The honest answer is… no.
That night at dinner my sisters, brother and I decided it is mandatory that we go to Armenia. None of us have ever been, neither had my dad and neither have my grandparents! My great grandparents were from Armenia and escaped the genocide. No one has been back since. All I know about my country is what I read and pictures I see on the Internet.
My parents couldn’t tell us stories because no one has been! So, this generation is going to change that! We don’t know when we are going to go, but we four kids have decided it is something we should do! I heard it is beautiful and we are all really excited about it!
I will definately keep you posted on the details of that trip! It would make my dad so proud!
Back when my father was alive, we didn’t use digital cameras, so I don’t have many pictures with him on my computer. But when I get home I am going to get a scanner so I can show you guys how handsome my daddy was.
I am also going to be honest, I don’t speak Armenian (I know, a lot of you have asked). And I don’t know all of the historical details — so if you have some stories to share with me, I would love that!

hey kim, i think its great that u are going to go to armenia. im also armenian and our school takes the juniors every year to armenia. i cant wait to go and see all that my parents and my school have talked about over the years. hope u guys have a great trip.
I hope you, your brother & sisters have a great time in Armenia. Going back to ones country always makes you appreciate what you have. Hope to see some pics soon of your trip.

It’s true! Going back to the ‘Motherland’ is awesome! I’m originally from Bangladesh, but I was born in New York. It was tons of fun visiting my mom and dads old home and visit family! I’m sure you and your siblings will have loads of fun! By the way, I barely speak ‘Bangali,’ our national language, so don’t sweat it! I’m sure you’ll pick up on a couple of phrases when you’re there! Take pictures! =]

Kim It’s so beautiful that you are big enough to respond to those comments:-) It shows that you care about your culture even though you didn’t have to say anything at all because you don’t owe anyone an explanation regarding your heritage! I am Italian and my parents did not come straight from italy .. It was my GREAT grandparents that are from Italy.. So I as well do not speak italian and I am 28 so we are about the same age.. My grandparents were dead by the time I was born so I don’t really know as much about my culture as I would have had I lived in Italy and had the time to spend with My Great Grandparents … I do like you most of the information I get is from books and off the internet because I have not YET been to Italy which I also plan on doing ! So I understand where you are coming from when you are not born and raised in a country you are not as familar with the culture and language! It’s ok your an armanian american mixed with irsih … And I think it’s a wonderful Idea to go to your country just to have that experince! Never feel bad about being blessed GOD put you in a position to be a blessing to others! It’s ok at the end of the day when you have worked hours at a photoshoot or spent hours at your boutique to treat yourself that’s what life is about seeing the pay off for all the hard work you put into whatever makes you happy! As long as you stay true and grounded and never forget where you came from it’s ok to be blessed and live a prosperus life! Some people are bitter because they don’t have the strength to be as sucessful as others. But I believe life is what you make it! And GOD has a plan for each of us we were not all meant to be Hollywood stars or models! But we should be greatful and happy with what we do have! We all make mistakes in some way Knowone is PERFECT! We have only one judge and that is GOD! So even if you made bad choices or mistakes the only person who can forgive you and Judge you Is the lord! Remember when ever someone judges you always know that Jesus was judged first! So your not alone as long as you repent to your GOD you are right with HIM and that is all that matters! Keep your head high and keep being REAL even if you have to be an example from a mistake you made in your life it’s ok your still human we are all sinner’s in one way or another! Stay Beautiful Inside and Out and do not let the Crazy media get the best of you they are awful! They are paid to destroy peoples lives! I lost my dad to cancer as well he was only 45 I know how hard it is! I loved watching your father during the OJ trail… Him and Shapiro and Cockran were BRILLANT attorneys !!! My stepfather is a lawyer but he is a corporate attorney I remember being a kid and always going to LA in the summer because her worked both on the east and west coast! We had a very lucky childhood and got to do alot of things many kids didnt! So I am greatful for the opportunity and hope to make it back to the west coast soon I love LA !!! Stay stong Kim and keep your head high always be yourself your so pretty you dont have to be anyone else but YOU !!!
People so often confuse who someone is with who they think someone is or should be.
As confusing as it may be a person’s identity and caracter are shaped by the place where they really are, not by their historical roots and places they’ve never been and even niether did their parents.
Although, someone may choose to learn more about their historical background, it’s just not too intelligent to judge someone based on their PAST that WAS NEVER really THEIR PAST.
So, please, before you judge consider doing some other things, like may be learning more on the subject yourself.

BTW… Not everyone is going to like you ! I have a hard time my whole life with woman in general because I am very pretty!! It sucks because when your a good person people treat you a certian way just because your really pretty and super smart! They automatically call you stuck up and place this GOD awful label on you ! I also have 2 mixed childeren who are Italian and Black and while I am from Conneticuit where it is not uncommon to see mixed couples down in the south where I live now In ATLANTA things are still very much divided in a different way while you see more and more mixed couples I came here 12 years ago and it was NOT like that and the mentality is very different ! And I catch hell from all races just because I have 2 beautiful MIXED childeren one girl and one boy! People always compare me to JLO and YOU LOL … although I don’t have all that JUNK in the TRUNK as you ladies LOL … But I have enough ! And I just try and stay strong and know that people are not always going to like you for whatever reasons… You have to live your life and do whatever makes YOU happy!!! Let everything else go I don’t look at you as a STAR even though it’s your Job to be in the movies and magazines your still a person you bleed and cry just like anyone else so nothing you do makes you any different than the rest of us in the world. You just happen to be in a circle were everything you do gets EXPOSED good or BAD .. But you know the media they always love to EXPOSE the BAD !
